Migrate to SaaS Billing for Threat Manager plus ActiveWatch in AWS | How To

Description

This article describes how Amazon Web Services (AWS) customers currently subscribed to Alert Logic® Threat Manager plus ActiveWatch™ Amazon Machine Image (AMI) billing can migrate to the new SaaS billing option. To migrate to this new billing, several steps must be performed in the following order:

Delete AMI-Based Appliances and the Legacy AMI

  1. Find the Alert Logic appliance within the AWS Management Console.

  2. In the navigation pane, click Instances.

  3. Right-click the instance to terminate.

  4. Click Instance State and then click Terminate.

  5. When prompted for confirmation, click Yes, Terminate.

  6. In the navigation pane, click AMIs.

  7. Select the Threat Manager AMI.

  8. Click Actions and then click Deregister.

  9. When prompted for confirmation, click Continue.

  10. In the navigation pane, click Snapshots.

  11. Select the snapshot for the AMI.

  12. Click Actions and then click Delete.

  13. When prompted for confirmation, click Yes, Delete.

Uninstall Alert Logic Agents from Protected Hosts

The process to delete Alert Logic agents from protected hosts varies based on your operating system.

To uninstall an agent on a Linux RPM-Based Distribution

  1. Locate the Threat Manager agent RPM package. Use the following command:

    rpm -qa | grep threat

  2. Uninstall the Threat Manager agent RPM package. Use the following command:

    rpm -ev <packagenamefromstep1>

  3. Delete the Alert Logic directory. Use the following command:

    rm -rf /var/alertlogic

To uninstall an agent on a Linux Debian-based distribution:

  1. Locate the Threat Manager agent Debian package. Use the following command:

    dpkg -l | grep threat

  2. Uninstall the Threat Manager agent Debian package. Use the following command:

    dpkg -r <packagenamefromstep1>

  3. Delete the Alert Logic directory. Use the following command:

    rm -rf /var/alertlogic

To uninstall an agent on Windows:

  1. Open the Alert Logic agent MSI package installer.

  2. Uninstall the agent.

  3. Delete the Windows folder “AlertLogic” located in the directory path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\AlertLogic

Subscribe to the New SaaS-Based Listing

  1. Access the Threat Manager plus ActiveWatch listing in AWS Marketplace. 

  2. Click Continue and follow the prompts to sign up for the offering.

Unsubscribe to the AMI-Based Billing

  1. In AWS Marketplace, click your account in the top right corner and select Your Marketplace Software.

  2. In the AMI tab, locate the Threat Manager + ActiveWatch service and click Cancel Subscription.

    Note: Verify you are canceling the AMI-based subscription on the AMI tab and not the new listing on the SaaS tab.

  3. Follow the prompts to cancel your subscription.

With the completion of these steps in the order listed above, you are unsubscribed from the AMI-based billing and subscribed to the new SaaS-based billing. If you have additional questions, contact our Support team.
