07/17: User Account Migration to Improved User Management System | Software Update

Overview

Beginning on July 22, 2017, all Alert Logic® Cloud Defender, Threat Manager, Log Manager, and Web Security Manager customer accounts will be migrated to an improved user management system. This change is occurring in order to enhance the customer sign-in experience and to enable single sign-on federation for customers who also subscribe to Alert Logic Cloud Insight.

This software update will not change how customers interact with any of our products and user experience will not be interrupted. Existing Cloud Defender customers will be forced to reset their passwords upon initial log-in after the migration has occurred.

Required Password Reset

Existing customers with credentials for Cloud Defender, Threat Manager, Log Manager, and/or Web Security Manager will need to reset their passwords for the Alert Logic console once the migration is complete. You will be automatically prompted to take this action upon your first login post-migration. Note that the password policy will now be stronger than in the past. Please follow the guidelines below for choosing a new password:

  • Length of at least 12 characters
  • Cannot be identical to current or four previous passwords

  • Must contain three of the four possible character types:

    - Uppercase characters
    - Lowercase characters
    - Numbers
    - Special characters, including: !"#$%&'()*+,-./:;<=>?@[]^_{|}~

NOTE: Cloud Defender customers who also have Cloud Insight credentials will maintain their Cloud Insight user credentials and will not have to reset their password. You will now use your Cloud Insight credentials to log into the Alert Logic console and the Cloud Insight console.

Customers With Distribution List Usernames

Customers whose usernames are a distribution list or who share a singular Alert Logic account should proactively change their password and disseminate that information to all users in their groups so as not to disrupt user experience.

Bookmarking New Login Page

Alert Logic strongly recommends that customers not change any current login page bookmarks and not bookmark the new global login page. You will be redirected to the new global login page via your current data center-based login link.

Console User Management Page

Customers with both Cloud Defender and Cloud Insight credentials may see users within their organization that are tied to the other product in the respective product's user console. Cloud Insight users will now appear in the Cloud Defender User Management page, and Cloud Defender users will now appear in the Cloud Insight Users page. This is intentional. It is a result of the migrated Cloud Defender accounts into the same user management system that houses Cloud Insight accounts and is the first step to a unified Alert Logic product login platform.
