10/23/17: Telemetry, CMS Magento WebForm Pro 2 Arbitrary File Upload | Security Bulletin

Threat Summary

Overview

Versions 2.7.6 and lower of the Magento Webforms Pro 2 plugin are vulnerable to unauthenticated arbitrary file upload.

Exploitation

Stages

  1. The attacker sends HTTP POST with a PHP file to the vulnerable server. The server then stores the file.
  2. The server responds with HTTP 200 OK and JSON data to the attacker. The JSON data contains the URI path to the uploaded file.

Prerequisites

The attacker does not require authentication.

Alert Logic Coverage

Alert Logic® has evaluated its customer base for exposure to the exploit and has developed signatures for mitigating the threat depending on the security service in place.

The Network-Based Intrusion Detection System (IDS) has been updated with the new signatures for this exploit when detected via Alert Logic Threat Manager™. If this signature is detected, an incident is generated in the Alert Logic console.

Recommendations for Mitigation

Update the software to a non-vulnerable version.
