In preparation for the adoption of the Fortra Support Portal, Alert Logic customers must set up and begin using Fortra Identity Provider (FIDP) credentials to log in to the Alert Logic console and the Alert Logic Support portal.
Updating your FIDP credentials will not change how you interact with Alert Logic at this time. You can continue to use the same bookmarks, console, and ticket creation process.
Registering Your Fortra Credentials
- Navigate to https://console.alertlogic.com and click Login with Fortra.
- Click REGISTER to walk through the process of registering FIDP credentials.
- Select the appropriate option at the Fortra Log in prompt.
- Click Continue with Microsoft or Continue with Google if your Microsoft or Google account uses the same username as your Alert Logic username. With this one-click login option, the existing credentials are registered with FIDP, and multi-factor authentication (MFA) is not required. Your registration is complete, and you do not need to proceed to the next step.
- Click Continue with email to set up your credentials and MFA to ensure the account remains protected. Proceed to the next step.
- Click Forgot Password? and follow the prompts. You will receive an email from Fortra with instructions for resetting your password.
- Click UPDATE PASSWORD in the email or copy the link and paste it in your browser. This action must be performed within four hours of receiving the email. The Mobile Authenticator Setup window displays.
- Follow the instructions and enter the one-time code from your authenticator application.
- Click LOG IN. A Create new password prompt displays.
- Enter and confirm the new password for your Fortra login, and then click UPDATE AND LOG IN. Passwords must be 12 - 256 characters in length and contain at least one uppercase, lowercase, digit and special character (!~@#$%^&*()-_=+<>?/\;:[]{},.)
- Log in to the Alert Logic console with your Fortra credentials.
Note: Users will need to allow exceptions for third-party cookies in their browsers. For instructions for each browser, refer to Allow Exceptions for Third-Party Cookies.
Common Issues
There are two common issues customers may encounter when registering their FIDP credentials.
-
Constantly looping between Alert Logic and Fortra Platform
This is usually caused by a 3rd party cookie issue. As outlined in Allow Exceptions for Third-Party Cookies, modern browsers have security measures in place to prevent data from being transferred between domains. As Alert Logic is not yet under the fortra.com domain, these security features can prevent us from receiving the successful authentication data from the platform, causing a looping behavior between the two pages. This can usually be fixed by adding 3rd party cookie exceptions as outlined in the above doc.
-
A blank screen after landing back on the Alert Logic Console
This is typically because your username in FIDP does not match your username in the Alert Logic console. This often happens when signing in via Microsoft or Google. The solution is to unlink your Microsoft or Google account by navigating to https://platform.fortra.com/idp/realms/products/account/#/security/linked-accounts and configuring new Fortra Platform credentials with your Alert Logic console username, via the forgotten password route, and then linking your Microsoft or Google account to that Platform user.
