Collect Remote Logs in Cloud Environments

A remote collector collects, compresses, and encrypts syslog data from the configured remote machines to send directly to Alert Logic®. The following article describes how to collect remote logs in Cloud environments.

Please review the Remote Collector requirements, and note that remote collectors only support syslog collection.

Note: This information applies only to customers with Alert Logic® Cloud Defender™ or Alert Logic Log Manager™ entitlements.

Solution

1. Log in to the Alert Logic console from your remote collector instance.
   
   
2. Click the  Settings icon ().
   
   
3. Click Support Information.
   
   
4. Copy your Unique Registration Key. You will need this later to install the remote collector.
   
   
5. Click on this link to get to the Installation and Initial Configuration page.
   
   
6. Select either Linux or Windows installers. Both installers are available in 32-bit or 64-bit format.
   
   
7. Download the appropriate collector and follow the on-screen instructions:
   • Install the remote collector for Linux
   • Install the remove collector for Windows
     
     
8. Verify that your remote collector is registered by going to Configuration > All Deployments > Log Collectors. 
   
   
9. Verify that your syslog log sources are collecting by going to Configuration > All Deployments > Log Sources.
