The Baggage Freight Shipping plugin for WordPress contains an arbitrary file upload vulnerability due to a lack of user-input validation. The single version of the plugin contains upload functionality intended to process Excel documents containing baggage data. The upload functionality does not make any attempt to validate the file type or contents. It is possible to upload executable file extensions including PHP files to the WordPress site anywhere the plugin is used.
Exploitation
Stages
- An unauthenticated remote attacker submits a file upload request.
- The plugin accepts the upload and attempts to read the file contents. The resulting error message is returned in the response.
- The unauthenticated remote attacker requests the filename to be returned in the error message, resulting in remote code execution.
Prerequisites
The attacker must be able to send crafted packets to the target system.
