How are SSH keys and certificates stored on appliances?

After being uploaded through the Alert Logic® console or API, the certificate key pair is passed to the Alert Logic configuration service, which encrypts the private key and stores it securely in the Alert Logic system.

The appliance, as part of the process to pull down and update its configuration, stores the private key encrypted and in memory only. Decryption occurs as required.
