It is important to understand the relationship between parent and child accounts to understand how users are provided access to account data. Consider the following example:
- Account A as the parent account
- Account B as the child account of Account A
- Account C as the child account of Account B (sometimes referred to as “child of child account” or “grandchild account”)
If a user account is created at Account A (parent account level), the user will have access to both Account B and Account C.
If a user account is created in Account B (child account level), then the user will have access to Account C but will not have access to Account A, regardless of what role has been applied.
If a user account is created in Account C (child of child/grandchild account level), then the user will only have access to Account C. Account A and Account B are off-limits to this account hierarchically.
