LevelBlue's Alert Logic has enhanced the Alert Logic console for Managed Detection & Response (MDR) customers by providing additional context for External Assets, such as External IPs or DNS Names.
Among these enhancements is a new tabular view of configured External Assets, enabling you to easily obtain additional metadata and perform actions such as initiating a scan.
These improvements can be accessed within the Assets Console by selecting Investigate > Assets > External Assets.
Background
An External Asset may be either an External IP Address or a DNS Name. These assets can be added to a deployment and subsequently configured to be scanned via an External Scan Schedule. These scans are conducted from the Alert Logic data centers against your internet-facing environment. This type of scan simulates attacks originating from outside your network and identifies potential vulnerabilities associated with such attack vectors.
To view the External Assets currently configured on your account, you must access each Deployment individually and navigate to Add Assets > External Assets for Data Center deployments, or Discovery > External Assets for Cloud deployments.
Asset Console Improvements
The list of enhancements includes:
- External Assets now has a dedicated tab within the Assets UI
- A new tabular view of External Assets featuring columns with metadata
- The capability to view, filter, add, or delete External Assets configured across all deployments in a single location
- The ability to easily determine when an External Asset was last scanned
- The External Asset table can be exported to a CSV file
- Each External Asset includes a summary and details page providing additional information about the asset
- The option to manually initiate a scan of the asset outside of its scheduled scan times
These enhancements are designed to offer a more intuitive and user-friendly interface, thereby improving the overall experience of managing and monitoring logs received from your infrastructure.
